Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing multi-discipline engineering and CAD team.
- Establish departmental goals, objectives, and operating procedures in alignment with business strategy.
- Oversee the development of engineering documentation, including system designs, CAD drawings, calculations, and acoustical modeling.
- Review and approve pre-construction designs, schematics, and project documentation.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, and operations teams to provide technical expertise, pricing support, and design consultation.
- Act as a liaison for technical inquiries between clients, vendors, project teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, products, and tools in line with project needs and innovation goals.
- Manage labor expenditures, ensuring effective resource allocation across multiple projects.
- Maintain and enforce high standards of system testing, quality control, and document control.
- Drive process improvements, standardization efforts, and innovation initiatives within the engineering department.
- Ensure engineering support for post-sales activities, including system commissioning and escalated troubleshooting support.
- Lead the review and estimation of hours required for design, engineering, and CAD activities on bid submissions.
- Conduct regular team training, mentorship programs, and performance evaluations.
- Oversee compliance with health and safety, industry standards, and company processes.
- Support client handovers and project closeout activities as needed.
Required Skills and Competencies:
- Proven leadership experience in managing large technical teams across multiple disciplines (Design Engineering, CAD, Acoustic Modeling, Systems Integration).
- Strong understanding of AV system design, integration, and commissioning best practices.
- Ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear system designs and workflows.
- Demonstrated success in budget management, resource planning, and project forecasting.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with clients, team members, vendors, and leadership.
- Deep understanding of industry standards, including InfoComm/AVIXA, SMPTE, and AES where applicable.
- Proficiency with engineering and project management software (AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Project, etc.).
- Results-oriented approach with strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a matrixed, fast-paced project delivery environment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Audio-Visual Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of AV industry experience with at least 5 years in an Engineering Management role.
- CTS-D and CTS-I certification required.
- Experience managing engineering budgets for multiple, concurrent multi-million-dollar integration projects.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, construction drawings, and technical specifications.
